This picture has caused controversy in the Shark and Diving world for the apparent brutality and obvious killing of a Great White Shark.
The Shark had got caught in netting in a Tuna Farm, and the divers took the decision to kill the Shark as a last resort.

So, this picture has caused controversy among the Shark and Diving world, when it was caught in a fish net, clearly dying anyway, and was killed to put it out of its misery,,, (by people who probably aren't used to killing great whites, hence the "brutality")
I don't condone pointless killing, but if its going to die anyway, why not put it out of its misery to save it the bother and pain?
Some people need to realise they cant save every animal or shark out there, some will die and killing one of them may be the best option for it in the end.

It's a shame that things like this have to happen. A tuna net, find other ways to catch tuna without harming sharks. Great Whites are endangered to begin with, carelessness like this does not help. There has only been like what, 300 Great White attacks since the 1800's, sharks attack because they think that we are FOOD, they cannot tell the difference between a seal and human.

And people wonder why they're coming in and attacking swimmers on the beach. They might not be human, but you just killed someones Dad, Mother, Brother, Sister. Just because it's a creature we can't understand. And why didn't they just cut their netting instead. Netting can be repaired. When lives are taken that can't be fixed no matter the species.

We have a right to be in the sea, just because they live in it doesn't mean we can't go in there. I have an irrational fear of these creatures so seeing one like this doesn't make me feel bad, but in saying that, I don't think killings like this are necessary at all. Only in my opinion you bite us, we bite you back!

Wow. Horrible. People always thinking that sharks are just mindless man-eating machines. Your more likely to die from a bee sting than get eaten by a shark. Then only like 30% of the attacks on human are fatal. Then sharks are a big help to the ecosystem, without them who will keep the ocean clean of decayed animals. I want to be a shark bioligist and study more about them. If people keep killing them i probably wont be able to pursue my 1st dream.

This is really a horrible act. Humans should also respect the rights of animals to live freely and peacefully just like what human wanted. The government and all institutions and citizen must condemn such act of cruelty to animals and these shark hunters must be punished under the law.

I don't see the admiration of these hidious monsters you are all talking about. These animals are fierce looking and can bite 30Lbs with one bite. I think they should all be extinct so that the 30% of fatal attacks reduce to 0%. This is just one less beast to worry about. I just pray for the safety of all swimmers, to never have and encounter with these animals.

i just want to say that unless there is something done now about the state of our world marine life and its oceans then were going to wake up one day very soon to a lifeless body of waters on this fragile planet! man has no regard for the well being of our worlds wild life and marine life. it is sad and frustrating for the select few of us humans who do! want to help preserve all life on this planet. we have to do a lot more NOW!

Sharks only attack humans when they cannot find other food or injured or mistake you for a seal fact is sharks don't like the taste of us and most likly to spit you out or ignore you completly like it did to me and I'm still here and I DIDN'T HAVE TO KILL JUST BECAUSE IT MIGHT HAVE ATTACKED ME YOUR MORE LIKELY TO BE ATTACKED BY A DOG THAN A SHARK but they don't kill dogs do they even thought the damage is usally great then.

The sharks are neither little kittens in need of rescuing from a tree nor are they mindless eating machines. They are an Apex predator that swims in most oceans of the world. It is fortunate for us that we don't often look tasty to them (sharks in general not just the white) or swimming would hazardous in the extreme.
They will attack for territorial reasons, curiousity and for food. A predator is a predator! Sharks are OPPORTUNISTIC feeders. If the GW hasn't been lucky with the Seals or the Tuna it might well tide itself over with a bit of human. Better than nothing! We are appallingly easy to catch and don't put up much of a fight.
We also eat them. Fair is fair. Avoid them and don't look like food and the odds are good you won't be attacked. Do stupid things and look like food at your own peril.
BTW: Your odds of a shark attack increase dramatically off places like Dyer Island, Guadalupe Island and False Bay. Throw in the burley and you have a real good chance (in season) of meeting Jaws. She might be hungry too.

Now I don't think that we should kill all the sharks out there. But this thing was caught in a tuna net and couldn't get out. Now they could have tried to get it out and maybe have gotten bitten themselves, thus possibly resulting in a crippling injury and ruining their carrer and then not being able to provide for their family and then they go on the streets. Now if you care more about that shark then the possible injury to the HUMAN BEING then you aren't a real person.

Sharks were here long before man and will be here long after man it's just a fact.
My opinion goes as far as to say people suck, In general and kill anything they dont know no or is superior to them.
Take away man's weapons, like guns, knifes, fire, nuclear bomb's and you just have a piece of shit on a stick.
I may fear sharks but i dont see them jumping random species, Raping innocent girls, or tortureing people for there amusement.
Man abuse's there power, and are currently ''trying'' to recreate dinosaur's. Hopefully they do and the dinosaur's can come kick our ass. I hope im around to see that.
